Title: The Many Splintered Road
Author: funkyinfishnet
Rating: R for language
Characters: The Warriors, Mercy, Luther, The Rogues, The DJ
Disclaimer: I own nothing.
Summary: There's so many ways that the Warrior's story could have turned out differently. So many forks in the road. Here's snippets of what could have been.

Read here.

Hey everybody :) [04 Dec 2010|03:56pm]

[ mood | chipper ]

-Favorite Warrior- Swan and Ajax
-Favorite Gang- The Warriors and The Riffs
-Favorite Character- Swan and Mercy. Their journeys in the film are the most compelling to me.
-Favorite Scene- The scene on the train with the prom couples. The conclave with Cyrus. The fight with the Baseball Furies. The ending.
-Favorite Quote- Cyrus: "Can you dig it?"
Mercy: "Wait a minute, I can't go in there. It's a mens room." Vermin: "Are you kidding?"

[12 Dec 2009|02:26pm]

[ mood | good ]

-Favorite Warrior-
It's a tie between Swan and Cochise.
-Favorite Gang-
The Warriors, of course. Other than them, I'd have to say the Saracens.
-Favorite Character-
Swan or Cochise.
-Favorite Scene-
Movie: When Cleon is telling everybody what's what, and who's who, before they leave to the gang meeting. Also, the one where The Warriors are running from the A.C's, who are trying to run them down in the bus.
Game: I loved running from the Hi-Hats across the roof-tops, and then later busting up Chatterbox's art gallery.
-Favorite Quote-
Movie: "You Warriors are good. Real good." - Masai. "The best." - Swan. AND. "You never know what you're gonna run into out there. If we're wearing our colors, we can't hide." - Cowboy. "Who wants to hide?" - Vermin.
Game: "Look! There goes Virgil's junkie bitch!" - Snow. I was cracking up when I heard him say that. It's just the way he said it. Hilarious. Oh wait, and then there was the one when he said, "Those were some bad mother-dudes!"

The Warriors comic book [16 Nov 2009|09:39am]

[ mood | curious ]

I was wondering what everyone on here thinks about The Warriors comic book. I finally read the first issue, and I liked it for the most part, but was bothered by how Ajax looked like a old, washed up bum.

[28 Oct 2009|10:40am]

[ mood | okay ]

After seeing The Warriors for the fourth time, I can finally answer these:

-Favorite Warrior-Swan
-Favorite Gang-The Warriors
-Favorite Character-Cyrus
-Favorite Scene-Cyrus' speech
-Favorite Quote-"You're just part of everything that's happening tonight, and it's all bad." --Swan

Hell W10 [13 Sep 2009|11:39am]

[ mood | okay ]

Fans of The Warriors and The Clash: have any of you ever seen "Hell W10"? It's a silent film written and directed by Joe Strummer, and totally reminded me of "The Warriors," but British and punk. It's on "The Essential Clash" DVD.

"Anabasis" by Xenophon [11 Sep 2009|10:01pm]

[ mood | okay ]

The Persian Expedition (Penguin Classics) The Persian Expedition by Xenophon

My rating: 3 of 5 stars
I read an incredibly old edition published as "Anabasis," translated by Rev. J.S. Watson. This is a pretty interesting account that I read due to its influence on Sol Yurick for his novel "The Warriors."

The Wanderers [30 Jul 2009|09:10pm]

[ mood | okay ]

Have any of you seen The Wanderers? It's got one or two of The Warriors in it, and was also a New York gang movie from '79 based on a novel by a New Yorker. It's pretty sweet, and the whole thing is posted on youtube!

The Warriors (2010) [12 Jul 2009|11:20am]

[ mood | surprised ]

I'm surprised no one has written on here about The Warriors remake that should be coming out next year. I've read a couple different things, either that it's just a contemporary remake set in LA, like here: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0423512/, or much more interestingly that it'll be a sequal, which I read on a members only mesage board here: pacman712.proboards.com/index.cgi.

NEVER FORGET THE WARRIORS! [07 Jun 2009|10:01pm]

[ mood | curious ]

Have any of you ever seen this great video of scenes from The Warriors with the Judge song, Warriors? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OqduI4Oaa7Y

ALSO: have any of you ever heard the band Destroy sample the movie?

What other musical connections to the movie do people know about?

First Post. [07 Jun 2009|09:35pm]

[ mood | okay ]

I've only seen The Warriors once, but I Loved it, and am hoping to buy the novel soon! As far as the questions for new members go, I guess I can only answer that The Warriors are my favorite gang.

Anyone interested in soner gang culture in general might be interested in this short film about an old Chitown Stoned Greaser gang, the Gaylords: http://gaylords712.com/glcsac.html. The first book about them in the '80s, "The Lords of Lawndale" is a really great read.

New Here [20 Apr 2009|03:47pm]

[ mood | crazy ]

Favorite Warrior: Ajax, Cowboy, Snow and Rembrandt.

Favorite Gang: Strange as it may seem, it's a split between the Warriors and the Rogues.

Favorite Character: I pretty much like them all, but my favorite is a split between Ajax and Luther (Ajax for his usual magnetism and Luther for getting me into the Warriors in the first place, thanks to the 'Come out and play' chant in the commercial for the video game)

Favorite Scene: Far too many, but some include the little graveyard confrontation after the police show up, the run to the subway from the Turnbulls, the fight with the Baseball Furies, Ajax's arrest (sad, no?), the fight with the Punks, and Luther's taunt.

Favorite Quote:

Ajax: I only got one question. Who named you leader? I got just as much right to takeover as you.

Orphan Leader (Sully): You see what you get when you mess with the Orphans?!

Cowboy: I can't make it.
Ajax: Are you sure?
Cowboy: Yes, I'm sure.
Ajax: Well good! I'm sick of running from these wimps!

Ajax: I'll shove that bat up your ass and turn you into a popsicle.

Luther: Waaaarrrrrriiiorsss, come out to pla-ay!

Hey, everyone. Name's Candice. I've been a Warriors fan for about a year (since my family moved to Missouri). I first watched the movie on Youtube and then got the DVD. I loved the movie, and I have the game, but haven't played it yet since the video game system I need is still packed in a box...somewhere. The comics are pretty cool also. However, I have little hope for the remake (set in modern day Los Angeles, none of the original characters except Cyrus (they say), etc.). Anyways, I thought it would be a good idea to introduce myself.

Fic: Same old Coney [25 Nov 2008|12:51am]

Title: Same old Coney

Fandom: The Warriors

Summary: Five years have passed and an old Warrior returns home.

Rating: G

A/N: The Warriors is one of my favourite movies and the more I watch it, the more fics sort of fizzle in my brain but this is the first one I’ve ever shared with folks.

[19 May 2008|01:37am]

[ mood | amused ]

Hey guys! I'm new here, but not new to the Warriors. For some reason, whenever I get into something, I always forget to see if there's a fandom out there. And usually I'm late to the party, as I'm proving right now, har. As a matter of fact, my sister, lessxthanxthree, who hasn't had time to fill out this intro thing yet, was the one to point out that there was a community. Anyways, I thought I'd do the little introduction thinger before I went to bed, so here we go xD

Favorite Warrior: God this is hard, but I think Rembrandt. He's so adorable and seemingly naive, but he can still kick some ass, and it's such a sad story that Marcelino died of cancer shortly after the movie ): A close second is Snow, I think. Then Cowboy, maybe. I like them all for different reasons, though.

Favorite Gang: Can I say the Rogues? Luther is just so crazy, and his right-hand man (does he have a name? I can't remember...) looks like Izzy Stradlin, har. They're so lame that you just gotta love 'em x3

Favorite Character: I think Swan, which totally contradicts my favourite warrior answer, but Rembrandt really is my favourite Warrior, as far as the Warriors go, if that makes any sense. However, as a character, Swan is just so perfect. I love the fact that he doesn't really have to say anything to get his point across. Plus, at the end when he pulls the knife out of Luther's arm, he wipes it clean in his hair. How badass is that?

Favorite Scene: The end scene when Swan wipes the knife clean in Luther's hair. Fucking ultimate burn, man!

Favorite Quote: "Swan: Why'd you waste Cyrus?

Luther: No reason, I just like doin' things like that."

"Mercy: What about me?

Ajax: So what about you?"

"Rembrandt: Why couldn't it rain now?"

"Mercy: See that guy over there? Over there! He's watching you and he's got a couple of guys with him.

Swan: I know he's on my ass. And now he knows I know it."

Lol quotes are approximate, as I am way too lazy to actually look them up.

The book? [30 Jan 2008|09:57pm]

[ mood | thoughtful ]

I'm just curious, has anyone read it, I keep forgetting to order it online, I doubt my little local library has a copy.  I'm just wondering if folks have read it and what they thought of it?  Movies rarely do books justice, so I'm interested in getting a copy whenever I remember to make an order.

[30 Jan 2008|01:18am]

 -Favorite Warrior-
Vermin, without a doubt. Ajax comes in a close second, with Snow right behind.

-Favorite Gang-
Aside from the Warriors? lol. The Lizzies, and the Baseball Furies, though the Punks were cool too.

-Favorite Character-
Same as above. I'm all about Vermin. lol

-Favorite Scene-
Either the fight between the Warriors and Baseball Furies, or the bathroom fight scene with the punks.

-Favorite Quote-
"Those cats were some desperate dudes."

I'd honestly  never seen The Warriors until last weekend. I met David Harris (Cochise), Deborah Van Valkenburg (Mercy), Brian Tyler (Snow), and Terry Michos (Vermin) at a convention in Florida and absolutely loved them. Terry and Brian especially were fantastic. I spent most of the weekend with them. lol. So of course, I had to watch the movie then.

Can you dig it... [16 Jan 2008|04:08pm]

Favorite Warrior - Swan and Vermin

Favorite Gang - Aside from the Warriors, it's a split between The Lizzies and The Baseball Furies.

Favorite Character - Cyrus and Swan

Favorite Scene - Far too many to choose from.  Certainly Cyrus' speech in the park, The chase between The W's and The B'ball furies and also the end with Luther taunting them in Coney.

Favorite Quote - Cyrus' speech

The problem in the past has been the man turning us against one another. We have been unable to see the truth, because we have fighting for ten square feet of ground, our turf, our little piece of turf. That's crap, brothers! The turf is ours by right, because it's our turn. All we have to do is keep up the general truce. We take over one borough at a time. Secure our territory... secure our turf... because it's all our turf!

Mercy: Wait a minute, I can't go in there, its a mens room.
Vermin: Are you kidding!?

Swan (to Mercy): Why don't you just tie a mattress to your back? You don't care where it is, do you.

Luther - Warriors come out to pla-i-ay.

Word on the street is that theres a remake in the works.  Not sure how I feel about that. The Warriors is a cult classic, it isn't in need of a remake. Sometimes I wonder why they don't just re-release the classics in the cinema for a time.
